The fundamental training principles we have been using for decades in long distance sports like cycling, Ironman triathlon, and road running, many are virtually nonexistant in the world of ultra and trail running. Mostly because we are now in an era of online coaching and very few coaches are actually professionals or have a solid understanding of the practical application of the science of exercise physiology- this is not a judgment just a fact.
